I had to let everyone know about the latest Battlestar Galactica TV show summary on the SciFi channel website at http://www.scifi.com/battlestar/. Since I am a geek this is the one TV show I cannot live without. The summary video on the website puts together the entire season 1-3 in a very cool way. You have to see it to believe it.

OK, I’m just letting everyone know that I’m back in the game again after being away for almost three months. When I started this blog I promised myself to not “drop the ball” on writing articles. However, “reality” kicked in and I found myself hijacked by my employer.

Do you ever download free applications from the web? If yes, do you ever save the installation files in a safe location for later? What happens if your favorite freeware applications no longer are available next time you want to install them? If you are unlucky, your freeware may have turned into payware, and you may be forced to buy your software. You can save $$$ by saving your installation files, just in case you need them later.

Last week I spent some time looking for a good shortcut program for Windows. My requirement was that it needed to be free of cost and provide good features. I ended up spending a lot of time downloading applications, which boasted freeware in big letters. Well, these freeware applications ended up being nothing but evaluation copies. Since I started this blog about a month ago, I have been asked almost every day what the purpose is and what content readers should expect. So, I figured it is time for me to shed some light on this. I am devoted to the principals taught by the Getting Things Done movement, and related sources such as Zen Habits, LifeHacker, 43Folders etc.

Check out this article from N.Y. Times talking about the challenges we face getting our tasks done during our workday. Part of the article describes an employer’s wish to cut off the Internet access to stop time-wasting activities on the web. Obviously, anyone who is reading this blog knows that this is not a viable solution. The solution must be more focused on our habits and how we can stay motivated on our tasks to get them done.

Do you remember the article, Progress = Fill the GAP? Did you like the idea of visually painting a graph of your consistency with recurring tasks? If you did, then you are going to love the new application called Sciral Consistency 1.1 from Sciral.

This is essentially a USB drive, but with a lot more features than what we are used to. What I like about it is that it allows you to use one or up to four hard drives, but your computer will still see only one drive. This allows you to buy an additional hard drive when you need more storage capacity, pay-as-you-grow. This is much easier than putting together a NAS device (Network Attached Storage). I like Drobo for many reasons, but mostly because it is simple enough to use to recommend to my not-so-computer-savvy friends.
