Since I started this blog about a month ago, I have been asked almost every day what the purpose is and what content readers should expect. So, I figured it is time for me to shed some light on this. I want TechPREE to be a good source for productivity tips, especially about how to apply cool computer technology, but not restricted to, to accomplish this. I am devoted to the principals taught by the Getting Things Done movement, and related sources such as Zen Habits, LifeHacker, 43Folders etc.
I want readers of TechPREE to get useful tips about productivity that I gather from other sources, some of them mentioned above. In the past year I have seen these and other popular sites focusing on quantity, not quality, and as a result I end up wasting my time reading through all the “fluff”, to find the good content that is of interest from a productivity/technology point of view. I understand that the sheer number of written articles attract more readers and since these sites now have a wider audience than when they started up, they need to supply a wider range of content.
At any rate, readers of TechPREE, focused on productivity should see that over time, as I build this blog, you will save time by not having to do all that research/reading yourself. I will do it for you! Another goal of the blog is actually to create a good repository of information to make future “tip searching” easy. I figured that, if I will use my own blog for finding information, then it has to be good enough for other people too. I love the fact that articles on the blog are automatically indexed and stored in a database, so that searching is made easy. You see, I used to send out a tip-of-the-week email to a distribution list, and when I needed to look at an old tip for my own troubleshooting purposes, I had to search through my email archives to find it. From now on, instead of sending out emails, I publish the articles on the blog. In this way, the content is readily accessible, whenever I want and no one has to get “spammed” with my tip emails.
Lastly, I want to mention that I will soon start a series of articles on how to implement the Getting Things Done and the Zen Habits using my own take on these methodologies. I can hardly wait to get that started! I love this stuff and I have so much to share. Of course, you readers, ultimately will decide whether you like it or not. As long as there is even just 1 reader, I will keep on writing.
Have a great evening, and I will be back with more content tomorrow!
