Check out this article from N.Y. Times talking about the challenges we face getting our tasks done during our workday. Part of the article describes an employer’s wish to cut off the Internet access to stop time-wasting activities on the web. Obviously, anyone who is reading this blog knows that this is not a viable solution. The solution must be more focused on our habits and how we can stay motivated on our tasks to get them done.

Time for my not-so-serious weekly tip to shake things up! So, what does this have to do with productivity you ask? Well, if you are anything like me, I have to have my coffee in the morning to get a good start of a what will be a productive day. I simply don’t get a good start when I wake up and I have to take that conference call before having time to make my coffee (this is when I’m working from home). If I have enough time in the morning, I prefer making a triple shot, non-fat latte on my Gaggia espresso machine. However, if I’m in a hurry I just use my drip coffee maker.

This week I’ve been presenting at a client conference so I have not been writing any articles for a while. I’ve been too busy planning and presenting my security sessions during four long and interesting days. Ok, maybe I have done a little partying with my customers too. My customers never seem to get tired. They are a lot of fun. However, now I’m back again! I thought it would be fitting to talk about a trick that made me sit down and write this article tonight, even though I wanted to go to bed and sleep. It’s a trick that I picked up while reading a magazine at my dentist’s office a couple of weeks ago.
